Egie Akpata is a Director and co-owner at UCML Capital Limited, a 22 year old investment banking, asset management and securities trading firm. He is the current Secretary of Administration at the Association of Issuing Houses of Nigeria (AIHN).
Egie has over 24 years of experience in investment banking, technology and consulting having worked at top firms in Canada, USA and Nigeria. In the past decade, he has closed public transactions in ECM, DCM and M&A valued in excess of N1 trillion.
He started his professional career with Ernst & Young LLP in Calgary before more senior roles Enbridge Pipelines and Bank of Montreal in Toronto, Canada. In 2006, Egie joined Deutsche Bank AG in New York as an Assistant Vice President in the Global Markets Division.
Egie relocated to Nigeria in 2008 where he joined BGL Plc as the pioneer Chief Investment Officer of BGL Private Equity before heading the Structured Finance Division. In 2011, he joined UBA Capital Limited (now United Capital PLC) as Head, Debt Capital Markets before taking full responsibility for the entire Capital Markets Division. Egie joined Union Capital Markets Limited in 2014 as part of the owner-manager team that acquired the firm from Union Bank of Nigeria PLC.
Egie holds a BA (Hons) in Accounting and Finance from the Nottingham Trent University, UK and an M.Sc. in Accounting from The University of Saskatchewan, Canada. He is a qualified accountant and holds the CPA, ACA and FCCA designations.
