Amaka Nsofor is an Executive Principal at Standard Chartered Capital & Advisory Nigeria Limited, and the Secretary of Finance of Association of Issuing Houses of Nigeria.
Amaka is primarily responsible for Debt Capital Market origination and execution across the Nigerian domestic and international capital markets for clients in West Africa and Kenya. Prior to this, she worked as a Vice President in Barclays Securities, responsible for Local Currency Bond and Eurobond transactions for clients across Sub Saharan Africa with focus on Nigeria, Ghana, Kenya, Botswana, Zambia and Mauritius. She also worked as a Vice President in Standard Bank London and Stanbic IBTC Capital Limited, Debt Capital Market division.
Amaka is one of the leading capital markets professionals in Africa and has contributed significantly to the development of the Nigerian capital markets, as well as other Sub-Saharan Africa economies through various ground-breaking initiatives such as introduction of innovative products in the market, creating the framework for debt capital markets issuance in various countries and working with the Nigerian Securities and Exchange Rules (“SEC”) Committee on the comprehensive revision made to the SEC rules in 2013, which is currently in use as the consolidated SEC rules. She has also worked with the Stock Exchange and Central Bank in several other African countries to develop their domestic capital markets as well as introduce debut issuers to the Eurobond market. Amaka has extensive deal experience and has executed numerous number of debt capital markets transactions for clients across different countries and sectors.
She commenced her career as a corporate finance analyst in Frontier Capital Limited from where she transitioned to a career in investment banking. Amaka is an Accounting graduate from University of Lagos. She is also a member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria and Chartered Financial Analyst Institute (CFA).
